In his current role at TWC Development Management, he supports the end-to-end execution of complex, high-value hospitality and real estate projects, contributing across planning, coordination, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement. His academic foundation in town and country planning, together with his professional exposure to both research and applied development environments, has enabled him to bring a balanced perspective that combines analytical rigor with practical implementation. He has also worked alongside key institutions such as the Urban Development Authority and the Japan International Cooperation Agency, which has strengthened his understanding of national development planning, policy frameworks, and multi-stakeholder project delivery.

Hashanka’s professional background reflects a multidisciplinary journey across urban planning, academia, infrastructure, and project operations. Over the years, he has built experience through engagements with institutions such as Oriental Consultants Global, the Urban Development Authority, the University of Moratuwa, and Hayleys Advantis Engineering. These roles have given him exposure to research, teaching, planning analysis, and development execution, allowing him to develop both technical and managerial capabilities. At TWC Development Management, he plays a key role in overseeing project operations across the full lifecycle, including site feasibility, land utilization, transport and infrastructure considerations, environmental and social planning inputs, and coordination with regulators, consultants, and international hospitality stakeholders. Educational Background

Hashanka holds a BSc (Hons) in Town & Country Planning from the University of Moratuwa, Faculty of Architecture. His undergraduate education provided him with a strong grounding in urban and regional planning, GIS and spatial analysis, urban design, environmental planning, transport systems, and planning law. Building on this foundation, he is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Development Studies, through which he is expanding his knowledge of national and international development, project appraisal, economic development, and the broader social dimensions of development. This academic pathway has strengthened both his analytical and quantitative research skills while deepening his understanding of policy, sustainability, trade, and development practice.
